Did You Miss Me?

Hi.
Yes, hello.
It's me again.

I want to apologize for it being a little while since the last time we interacted, a lot has happened since then. If you are curious as to what (hopefully you are), you have come to the right place.

I am going to break it down for you... starting with the basics.

I love                      .

I do not live in Myrtle Beach anymore. I am back HOME in the lovely Buckeye state of Ohio. Hooray, snow. I work for the Cleveland Indians now (Yes, the Cleveland Indians)! I do miss my Myrtle Beach Nike family, but I am loving my job with American League Championship Series Champs. So far, Cleveland has been great to me.

No, I have not met LeBron yet. I am not sure why... I don't think he's busy, is he?

I have been with the Indians for about a month now.

The saying still stands: Time flies when you're having fun. I have been having a blast.
What a time to come to Cleveland. The city's baseball team made it to the World Series for the first time in 19 years. No, they did not come away with the pennant, but that seven game series was one to remember. We should all feel blessed that we were around for it.

The Cleveland Cavaliers, led by Kyrie Irv... Wait, that's not right, is it? King James brought the Larry O'Brien trophy back to his city.

Never gets old

Cleveland, that really was for you.
Now I know that many of you are confused as I seem to be showing my support and adoration towards LeBron. I have been pretty hard on the guy (understatement?) for all of the right reasons, but I am slowing down my slander... I think.
Either way, I work for the Cleveland Indians so hey, they have my full support. Go Tribe.

Come on... Even I admit it's cool (probably because of the Swoosh).

There does happen to be another professional sports team within the city of Cleveland... and they shall not be named.

Okay, I am kidding. It's pretty hard to talk about football and the city of Cleveland without cracking a joke on the Cleveland Browns.
Maybe the Browns can use the Cincinnati Reds slogan. "After years of failure, this one belongs to the Cleveland Browns!" Is that how it goes? Either way, you all probably have a good idea as to why I will not be the crowd favorite here in Cleveland when it comes to football season.

Anyway, as you know my adoration for any and all sports, working for a professional sports organization is like a dream come true for me. It is also a foot in the door for myself.

I had planned on having a big kid job three months after my college graduation. The good Lord and the cruel real world had other plans... and sometimes you have to learn that the hard way. I decided to roll with the punches (as if I had a choice) and look where I ended up.

Throwing this in here because I told you I miss this crew (& many more not pictured)

I am a God-fearing woman of faith. Him and I had some pretty deep conversations over the last few months, humbling conversations. You all know how much I enjoyed my time in Myrtle Beach, at Coastal Carolina University, and how much I adored my family located within the Nike Factory Outlet store, store #78. You all also know how eager and how hard God and myself have worked and prepared me for the field of work that I have been dreaming of since I was a young girl, the field that I have entered.

It's High School all over again... "First Day" pic

Long story short, here I am and God is GOOD. Go Tribe.

My gig with the Indians is a part-time year-round position so I am still getting my Nike fix. One month was really difficult to go without my discount. I will be joining the Nike Factory Outlet team in Aurora, Ohio... but unlike Kevin Durant, my former team does not despise me. We left on the best of terms.

Just like many young professionals out there, I have to make ends meet and balance the glorious two-job life for a little while. Nonetheless, I am grateful for this opportunity to be working with, first and foremost, a prestigious baseball organization.

Play Ball.

Also on a positive side-note, I am within four hours from my parents again. That sounds a lot better than 12 hours. My brother and sister-in-law are about to move within eight hours of us all. Needless to say, the Studebakers are on Cloud 9.

That is about it in a nutshell. I know this is not my normal blog post about something going on within the world of sports, but have no fear... I may have a thing or two up my sleeve. I just wanted to give you all a little update on "the move."

Again, I must apologize for there being such a gap from my last blog to this one. I promise not to leave you guys like that again and hope to be getting back on the "blogging grind" now that I am completely settled and in the groove of things here in Cleveland.

The "Bad Ash Podcast" is in the works as I type this to you. I am very excited to continue my passion for writing and broadcast as I have just earned my very first 'foot in the door.'

Be sure to stay tuned. As always, you all will be the first to know.

Enjoy March Madness, & Go Tribe.

I've got the whole city in front of me...

Super Bowl Weeknd

One more game. One last attempt at the drawing board. One last matchup ... for all the marbles, to hoist the Lombardi trophy.  We made it. We made it to the Super Bowl of the weirdest, yet most rewarding, NFL season in history. Maybe our appreciation and enjoyment for the game grew a little deeper this year. And maybe that stems from the thought that there was a high possibility of it being taken away from us. There was truly a point when we did not know if we were going to have an NFL season. No matter the outcome, we get to witness history on Sunday.  Not only is this the first time a team will compete for a Super Bowl title in its home stadium, but it's the first time a player will appear in their 750th Super Bowl.  I had to get at least one joke in.  Much of the hype for this big game has been centered around the quarterback matchup, and rightfully so. Tom Brady could win his seventh ring, at the age of 43 might I add. Patrick Mahomes is the younges...

It's The Rookies For Me

The NFL awards, the NBA awards, the All-Star selection ... how much of it is really ... accurate? Devin Booker initially getting snubbed as an All-Star starter is proof enough for me to realize that the voting system is well, misleading. T.J. Watt missing the mark on NFL Defensive Player of the Year is well, just wrong.  And no, that is not me saying that I do not think Aaron Donald was not deserving of it. However, T.J. should have taken the crown on that. It's not bias, it's just numbers.  So do not come for me.  However, I would be lying if said that we all didn't love to find out who wins these things. It's the sports lover in us. And even though these awards appear to be a wash, they do still become a part of these players' legacies and accolades. This year's most intriguing NBA award is not the Most Valuable Player but the Rookie of the Year. It has been one of those races where the lead runner changes frequently.  It is LaMelo Ball, Tyrese Haliburton, a...

2020 -- GOODbye

I do not plan on this being your typical, cliché publication of "Yay, 2020 is almost over. Let's get to it, 2021." We will see enough of that on our Twitter timelines and Instagram feeds over the next 72 hours. 2020 has had ups and it has had downs, maybe some more than others. You don't need my personal testimony. I am more for sharing sports stories and opinions anyway.  Speaking of ups and downs, what better way to describe the 2020 sports year than that? January alone had a few great ups, but also had one of the biggest downs we as sports lovers would experience all year. It started off with the LSU Tigers capping off an undefeated and incredible season with a National Championship over the Clemson Tigers. Heisman trophy winner Joe (or, JEUX) Burrow threw up an incredible stat line of 463 yards and five touchdowns. On January 14 the WNBA established a groundbreaking collective bargaining agreement (CBA). The new CBA included substantial salary increases, improve...
