You Never Know What Ya Got Till It's Gone

How Understated Athletes Are Often Overshadowed for Abstaining from the Public Eye  (Shoutout to Andrew Goldsmith for the title) Sports are never-ending so when I say, "This year in sports..." I do not even know where it begins and where it ends. But I will say this, I hope you all have appreciated these last few months that we have had.  Now this is not a blog post of reflection, but I feel as though some things that have happened within our sports world should be touched upon. What drew me to write this you may ask? Well, Serena Williams just won her 22nd Grand Slam and Tim Duncan just announced his retirement. (As if Kobe was not hard enough, Timmy. How could you do this now?) This should look familiar.  It was time for Serena to tie the record for most-Grand Slams and it was time for the great Tim Duncan to hang it up... And it is time that we appreciate what has always been right in front of us.  Is this what the kids call a 'bro...

The Appreciation Runs Deep

#MambaMentality Kobe "Bean" Bryant, Vino, Black Mamba, the GOAT... Whatever you may call the man, fan or not, the respect for him should be at an all-time high. For everyone.  Legendary. I have heard different reactions to the realization that the era of Kobe has ended and unfortunately I have heard people say things like, "Oh finally," "It was about time," "He should have retired a couple years ago," or, "Kobe sucked his last couple years." There's a lot of information on this guy... Who knew? People are not wrong when saying that Kobe struggled his last few seasons, but I do not believe that was an excuse for criticism. His last season w...

Childhood Dreams

Remember when you were growing up and you, of course, had your favorite football team and someone asked you who your favorite player was? I do not know about you, but I felt like the world was crashing down on me when I was asked that question because I could not choose. My answer would always be, "All of them." Even though every single one of the Pittsburgh Steelers hold a special place in my heart, there was this one guy... And on Saturday evening, August 8th, that one guy received his Gold Jacket. It is about time, my friends. Fifth time is a charm, right?  Bettis and his presenter, AKA his big bro Oh, and guess who will be attending? My mom, dad and I. Every child's dream to see their favorite National Football League player being inducted into the Hall Of Fame. Or is that just me? Regardless, I could not be happier for the running back and his family.  The Bus, what a fitting nickname that is, ended his career the way anyone would want to. In 2006, the ...
