Derrick Rose: The Hopeful Hype

"Yes, I like Derrick Rose. That's my guy." Now get prepared for the injury jokes. People still find humor in cracking those I guess. It has truly been a series of unfortunate events throughout the career of Derrick Rose. After the ACL tear in 2012... during the first game of the playoffs... Bulls are up by 12 on the 76ers... 1:20 left to play... Derrick Rose still in the game (no, I am not bitter)... It has been injury after injury, plaguing what could have been one remarkable career.  Well, it has still been remarkable to me. Can you even begin to understand how many people would have given up already? Over a span of eight seasons Rose has missed 257 games. He is now just the fifth player to be league MVP and play for four or more teams. Shaq and Allen Iverson are also in this category.  "I'm too far in to just walk away. I'm in love with the game. The love of the game. I still am a winner. I still love learning the game," Rose said in an inte...

What Now?

#Shalieve #PrayFor50 This is, as you can assume, difficult for me to write.  Yes, the Pittsburgh Steelers dropped the ball today against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Literally. Ben Roethlisberger fumbled late in the second quarter. That does seem costly considering it was ran back for six, but Big Ben also ended up throwing for 469 yards and five touchdowns. Quite opposite of his performance during their first meeting. Even though Roethlisberger willingly places the blame on his shoulders as the leader of this entire team, can we not point fingers? Pittsburgh's defense let Blake Bortles throw for 214 yards and Leonard Fournette rush for three touchdowns. Jacksonville had zero turnovers and Bortles was sacked zero times. Pittsburgh led the league in sacks this season with 56. Oh, 12 forced fumbles and 16 interceptions. On average they allowed 25.4 points per game. Jacksonville threw up 45. I said let's not point fingers so I am not pointing my finger at the defense. Nobody...

Real MVP, Please Stand Up

Merriam-Webster defines 'Most Valuable Player' as "the player who contributes the most to his or her team's success." Fair enough.  I personally believe that Most Valuable Player is one of the most controversial awards decided upon. These leagues are the best of the best, how do you narrow it down to just one valuable player?  With that being said, it is one of my most favorite awards handed out. One individual worked their butt off, tirelessly, to prove that they were THAT man or woman of the season. They carried their team to whatever success they may have had during the regular season, and it is their time to get appreciated for that. This award is not given, it is most definitely earned.  An elite guy apart of an elite group This year's NFL MVP race is a bit unusual.  No, seriously... Something might happen that has never been done before. If you have paid attention to the NFL and their MVP for the past decade, you probably noticed a trend...

Dear CCU,

First and foremost I would like to apologize, Coastal. I am sorry that such an article was published about you. You don't deserve that because you are not a public nuisance and you should not be permanently close.  That is preposterous.  So, as someone of this prestigious University's Alumni, I am sorry. Just know that you have a whole student body backing you up. And Chauncey... you have Chauncey backing you up. If you are not aware of why I am writing a personal and open letter to Coastal Carolina University, let me clue you in really quick... Someone by the name of Mike Knight recently wrote a little something about the University, calling it a "public nuisance" and saying that the students are "hellions." He actually went as far as saying it is "an unnecessary burden to the fine, law-abiding, taxpaying citizens that Conway and South Carolina residents are paying for." Right, because our tuition dollars have nothing to do with i...

Did You Miss Me?

Hi. Yes, hello. It's me again.  I want to apologize for it being a little while since the last time we interacted, a lot has happened since then. If you are curious as to what (hopefully you are), you have come to the right place.  I am going to break it down for you... starting with the basics.  I love                       . I do not live in Myrtle Beach anymore. I am back HOME in the lovely Buckeye state of Ohio. Hooray, snow. I work for the Cleveland Indians now (Yes, the Cleveland Indians)! I do miss my Myrtle Beach Nike family, but I am loving my job with American League Championship Series Champs. So far, Cleveland has been great to me. No, I have not met LeBron yet. I am not sure why... I don't think he's busy, is he? I have been with the Indians for about a month now.  The saying still stands: Time flies when you're having fun. I have been having a blast.  What a time to co...
