Are You Too Hyped? Bring On The Madness.

Can I just tell you all how excited I am for all of this Madness to begin?  You all have your brackets filled out, right? Surprisingly enough, I have actually recruited a couple of my friends to fill one out who have never filled one out before... Let me repeat that; never filled one out! Yeah, I had to hear it twice, too. One of them filled out one bracket and wanted to do another one. It is quite addicting, isn't it? I have to do at least seven. One just isn't enough.  It seems like each year I get more and more excited. I take a look at this year's teams and the caliber of the players from most of the teams and I just think, "I wonder what CRAZY thing is going to happen this time... Or should I say crazy thing(S.)"  Louisville's celebration last year. Repeat? There could be a number of upsets this year due to some underestimating, if you will, ranks. Maybe there will be a back to back Champion? Louisville has quite the potential to do it... As ...

Nearly Impossible To Compare

You are all familiar with the term 'rivalry,' right? Maybe you all have heard of a specific rivalry that I will writing about... Tom Brady vs. Peyton Manning? It is pretty well-known in the sports world, you may have heard of the two. Peyton Manning and Tom Brady will be facing off for the 15th time this Sunday in the AFC Championship game. This is also known as the "Branning Bowl." Clever, right? I wish I could say I came up with that one. Legendary. I'm going to throw some statistics at you now just to show how 'hall of fame-like' these two are.    The combined record between the two, including post-season, is 343-136. A total of 126,169 career combined passing yards. The total earnings between the two in 2013 was 68.3 million dollars. That turns out to be a pretty nice pay check, right? Over their career, combined, 850 touchdown passes have been thrown.  Last, but not least, these two Hall of Fame quarterbacks have combined for a tota...

'Tis The Season... For Injuries?

With my blog being called "Engaging Sports and Personal News," there is just going to be a little bit of every kind of post ranging from things in the sports world to... Well, my own world. Hence the "personal" part.  So maybe that wasn't the best "punch line," if you will, for this blog entry, but I was not sure if I had stated that yet and I felt that the audience should know... Plus, I couldn't really wrack my brain enough to come up with something clever for my third entry. Honestly. Now, I'm sure that it doesn't take someone who lives under a rock to realize the severity of injuries that can come about from sports. Whether these injuries end up being career-ending, long term or maybe just something minor. I occasionally have a debate with myself and always ask, "have injuries really increased in sports since around the 1980s-'90s, has the severity of multiple injuries increased, or have these "new rules" in selec...

City Girl?

Post number two! Hopefully I am getting better at this. Enjoy! You might think that if someone lives around a small county or in a small town their whole life, they just learn to love it. Well, this may seem a tad bit blunt, but if you are thinking this... You're wrong. I think it is safe to say that all who grow up in a small town don't learn to love it; the small town living just isn't for them. Okay, okay... Yes, I am talking about myself. I grew up in a small town, moved to a smaller town when I was about 8 and have remained ever since, but I have never felt like I really fit into the small town lifestyle. I am actually counting down the days that I will be moving out of this crazy small area. Now, don't get me wrong, there are things that I love around here. Things such as my family and the close friends that I have here, but they don't have to worry... I'll be back to visit... Sometimes. I believe that my love for the big city first began about two yea...

Rookie Status

Okay... I am rookie at this whole blogging business so if this first post is a little rough, that will remain my excuse. I thought that I would start out my first blog entry with what my whole Blogger name is all about; Engaging Sports and Personal News. Now, if you aren't new to the whole sports world then you might have an idea of why I went with the acronym, ESPN. If you are not familiar with all things sports, ESPN should sound a little bit familiar, but I will go ahead and give a brief background. ESPN is actually a Disney network. Everyone loves a little Disney, right?! I know I do! ESPN is, in a nutshell, a sports broadcasting network that will stream anything sports, 24/7. Different things within sports as well. Things such as entertainment going on within the sports world, whatever interesting that could be going on within teams, players, coaches, locker rooms... When I say, "all things sports," I mean it! So there's that. You might be putting a couple pie...
