The NBA is (pretty much) Back

The last couple of blogs I have done have been about the potential upcoming football season, college and pros. Since I chatted with you all last … we actually have sports back! **excuse me while I give the biggest “Welcome Back” celebration of my life** We have baseball back (for right now), NHL is on its way, and we have the NBA bubble. So, let’s talk buckets. Is it just me or has anyone else forgotten that we have actually had some of the NBA regular season? This bubble has appeared to be its own world to the point where I forgot that there have been games played before now, that have mattered. This is why you have probably been reading the MVP race articles. I will not be talking about my already-decided NBA Award winners. Although, the battle of The King and The Greek Freak might be what I am most looking forward to. Zion has returned to the bubble, but Ja Morant is my Rookie of the Year with no questions asked. I don’t need to tell you that games will be tipping off at the...

#WeWantYouToPlay

You may or may not be a part of the ever-glorious Twitter world. Regardless, you have probably seen the "#WeWantToPlay" tweeted out by many NFL players. If you follow me on Twitter then you have certainly glanced at this hashtag because I have retweeted many tweets from these athletes advocating for ... themselves.  At no surprise, the NFL and the NFL Players Association are not in agreement. The players want to be looked out for and the league wants the moolah. So, who has to sacrifice? What are the negotiations at-hand? What's gotta give for there to simply be ... football.  On March 31st Jeff Pash, the NFL Executive Vice President and General Counsel, made a bold plan for the upcoming 2020 season. Almost four months ago we had expectations that the season would start on time, fans would be in the stands, games would be played at the regular stadiums, 17 weeks would be played, and a full set of playoffs would ice the cake. Fast forward to today and it may not b...

Uncertainty Shows

Mood ALL 2020 I get it … we’re all nervous, right? What does the current state of this country mean for football season? I am certainly more of an NFL lady, but even the uncertainty of the college football season keeps me up at night. I advocate and believe in the ‘football brings people together’ campaign. It is that thing we are certain of every year. For me it is my escape from everything else happening in the world. Multiple conversations throughout the work week consist of making plans for the “big game.” Whether you wake up on Saturdays and have a cup of coffee or crack open a beer at 10 AM, it is socially acceptable … during football season. From tailgates to touchdowns, College Gameday to NFL Sunday Countdown, beers to burgers (or my personal favorite, nachos), debates to friendly debacles, comparisons to controversies … there is nothing like football season. Remember making fun of all the ‘silly’ or ‘pointless’ Bowl games? I take it all back. I would watc...

Invincible

I have a box of tissues by my side. A glass of water. A pen. Some paper. And, out of the ordinary, ESPN is not playing on the TV in the background. Kobe. I thought so highly of him. Oh, what Kobe meant to me. What Kobe meant to all of us. Legend. Hero. Goat (one of my most treasured sports debates). Icon. Brother. Son. Husband. Father. I wear my #24 Hollywood jersey differently now. I wear my purple Kobe X’s differently now. Every single Kobe highlight I watch, I watch differently now. That time that I went and watched him play in Chicago, I remember it differently now … but how I view Kobe will forever remain the same. My boyfriend and I began to talk about our favorite Kobe memories yesterday and you couldn’t help but to just … feel your blood began to pump faster, clinch your fists, grit your teeth … you know, full-on Mamba Face. It signifies so much. Invincible is the word he kept bringing up in our conversation. Man, we sure do love Bean. Go hard. ...

Thank God It's Football

Triple Threat (maybe).  photo retrieved from  https://nypost.com/2019/04/01/baker-mayfield-already-gushing-about-odell-beckham-relationship/ Cheers to the best time of the year.  I would drink to that.  You all already know that BadAsh has you covered with what you need to know for this upcoming NFL season, along with a hot take that you probably won't agree with (@ me.).  Don't get me wrong, baseball and basketball are great ... but they're not football.  Football Sundays (and Saturdays for you college lovers out there) hit different.  ... I'm done being nostalgic for now. Let's get down to business.  The Browns made headlines this offseason ... Yes, the Cleveland Browns.  The Browns are in contention to win the AFC North, and make the playoffs for the first time since 2002 ... Yes, the Cleveland Browns.  Odell Beckham Jr. and former teammate/college roommate Jarvis Landry are ready to let Baker Mayfield shine. T...

Calm Before The Score

I have Last Chance U on my television right now. You could say I am ready for football. It's been SIX months, my good people! The time is upon us.  OTAs are in the books, training camps and preseason have been in full-effect for everyone, and  Fantasy Drafts are going down. I'm not sure any of us can truly be as "lit" as JuJu Smith-Schuster, but I'm going to try and get us there.  Anybody else's highlight of the year last year? Let's dive in.  All of the moves this offseason should have you, football enthusiasts of America, hyped. The Cleveland Browns themselves have been the headline, and not just because of Hard Knocks. I am almost certain they will win a game this season with the amount of talent they picked up. Baker Mayfield and Tyrod Taylor are battling for the starting QB role. Josh Gordon is back in action. Jarvis Landry signed a five-year, $75-million contract in April to accompany Flash.  The Browns have managed to make themse...

Derrick Rose: The Hopeful Hype

"Yes, I like Derrick Rose. That's my guy." Now get prepared for the injury jokes. People still find humor in cracking those I guess. It has truly been a series of unfortunate events throughout the career of Derrick Rose. After the ACL tear in 2012... during the first game of the playoffs... Bulls are up by 12 on the 76ers... 1:20 left to play... Derrick Rose still in the game (no, I am not bitter)... It has been injury after injury, plaguing what could have been one remarkable career.  Well, it has still been remarkable to me. Can you even begin to understand how many people would have given up already? Over a span of eight seasons Rose has missed 257 games. He is now just the fifth player to be league MVP and play for four or more teams. Shaq and Allen Iverson are also in this category.  "I'm too far in to just walk away. I'm in love with the game. The love of the game. I still am a winner. I still love learning the game," Rose said in an inte...
