Thank God It's Football

Triple Threat (maybe).

Cheers to the best time of the year.
I would drink to that.

You all already know that BadAsh has you covered with what you need to know for this upcoming NFL season, along with a hot take that you probably won't agree with (@ me.).

Don't get me wrong, baseball and basketball are great ... but they're not football.

Football Sundays (and Saturdays for you college lovers out there) hit different.

... I'm done being nostalgic for now. Let's get down to business.

The Browns made headlines this offseason ... Yes, the Cleveland Browns.
The Browns are in contention to win the AFC North, and make the playoffs for the first time since 2002 ... Yes, the Cleveland Browns.
Odell Beckham Jr. and former teammate/college roommate Jarvis Landry are ready to let Baker Mayfield shine. This year is his year to prove. 3,725 passing yards in 2018 and a QB rating of 93.7 has set the tone.

Sophomore Slump? We'll see.

Le'Veon Bell and Antonio Brown finally got their way, and neither will be wearing the black and gold this season (thank God that's over). JuJu Smith-Schuster is ready to take on his new role and the Steelers organization is pleased to have the drama out of their locker room. The drama is happy to be out of Pittsburgh. Oh wait, I mean ... never mind.

Since we are on the topic of the AFC North, Terrell Suggs is now an Arizona Cardinal. He has repped the Ravens' brand for the entirety of his career, since 2003. This move has Steeler Nation rejoicing. What the Ravens lost, they gained with adding a Pro Bowl running back and safety. Mark Ingram and Earl Thomas will continue to keep the AFC North extremely competitive, if Ingram can stay off of the PEDs.

Jason Witten came out of retirement to rejoin the Dallas Cowboys. Apparently the broadcasting booth did not fit him like it does Tony Romo. Ezekiel Elliott feels as though he is more deserving than the $3.9 million that he would get for 2019, so he decided to hold out from training camp in Mexico. Jerry Jones certainly has his team under control as always.

...

The Philadelphia Eagles sent Nick Foles to Jacksonville ... Yes, the Eagles got rid of the one who led them to the Super Bowl in 2018 and who almost did it again in 2019. Carson Wentz has much to prove this season with the team on his back, and injuries plaguing him in his past.

Speaking of quarterbacks needing to prove themselves, the current MVP has much to live up to. Those no-look passes and Hail Mary launches were a lot of fun to watch, but I am not convinced that we will see the same guy this upcoming year. I am rooting for the kid, don't get it twisted.
I may have hinted at this once, but I will say it again ... Baker Mayfield has something to prove this year as well. He came swooping in to save the season from yet another losing record, but that doesn't mean that Cleveland Rocks. However, I do not think that another 0-16 parade is in their near future.

Ben Roethlisberger said that he feels like he loves football again and it actually looks like Andrew Luck is loving football again. Over 4,500 passing yards, nearly 40 touchdowns, and just 15 interceptions have Colts fans ready. Based on their division, they have every right to be with the weapons they do have.

So about that should ...

Andrew Luck, Darius Leonard, T.Y. Hilton, Devin Funchess, Eric Ebron, and Adam Vinatieri (yes, I just mentioned a kicker as a weapon) are just to name a few.
And I think I just got myself a little nervous.

For the record, the Saints are about to come out with some vengeance because I am certain they are still salty about that NFC Championship game. The entire country knows what I'm talking about. Michael Thomas also just secured that BAG so he better play like he is worth $61 million guaranteed, now the highest paid wide receiver in the league.  I hope Atlanta is ready to give Julio Jones that same kind of money.

Cam is trying to be Superman again, Tom Brady just turned 42 and yet still seems invincible, Melvin Gordon wants a trade, Saquon Barkley basically needs to hold down the entire Giants franchise, Aaron Rodgers has a new coach, and no one agrees with their Madden rating.

Hopefully this has you a little bit more excited for November 5th at 8:20 pm for a classic showdown between the Cheeseheads and Da Bears.

Of course, before I let you all go I will tell you my bold prediction. What's sports commentary if there isn't a hot take involved?

NFC: Detroit Lions/Carolina Panthers
AFC: Pittsburgh Steelers/Houston Texans/Indianapolis Colts

And hey, good luck in Fantasy Football this year ... unless you're in a league with me.

Sorry ... I'm going back to being nostalgic now.

2020 -- GOODbye

I do not plan on this being your typical, cliché publication of "Yay, 2020 is almost over. Let's get to it, 2021." We will see enough of that on our Twitter timelines and Instagram feeds over the next 72 hours. 2020 has had ups and it has had downs, maybe some more than others. You don't need my personal testimony. I am more for sharing sports stories and opinions anyway.  Speaking of ups and downs, what better way to describe the 2020 sports year than that? January alone had a few great ups, but also had one of the biggest downs we as sports lovers would experience all year. It started off with the LSU Tigers capping off an undefeated and incredible season with a National Championship over the Clemson Tigers. Heisman trophy winner Joe (or, JEUX) Burrow threw up an incredible stat line of 463 yards and five touchdowns. On January 14 the WNBA established a groundbreaking collective bargaining agreement (CBA). The new CBA included substantial salary increases, improve...

The Hunger, The Redemption

After an outstanding first round of this year's NBA playoffs... How outstanding? FIVE game 7's! That's right, five. This would be an NBA record.  Here we are.  They're calling it 'The Rematch,' and rightfully so, but there's been a few changes since that seven game series.  The Heat have lost Mike Miller and Juwan Howard. You know, Mike Miller? He lost his shoe in game 6, fourth quarter, still managed to hit a three. Seems pretty clutch... HA, when speaking of game 6 we don't speak of some guy who lost his shoe. Ray Allen over everything in THE Game 6. Please tell me you remember that.  Only in Game 6. This one haunts all of Spurs Nation.   The infamous tatted Birdman may make his presence on the court, but will he be 100%? While we're on the subject of health, or lack of, will Dwayne Wade even be 100%? He seems to think so as he stated in his press conference. What about Tony Parker? If we are being honest, those two do not need t...

Nearly Impossible To Compare

You are all familiar with the term 'rivalry,' right? Maybe you all have heard of a specific rivalry that I will writing about... Tom Brady vs. Peyton Manning? It is pretty well-known in the sports world, you may have heard of the two. Peyton Manning and Tom Brady will be facing off for the 15th time this Sunday in the AFC Championship game. This is also known as the "Branning Bowl." Clever, right? I wish I could say I came up with that one. Legendary. I'm going to throw some statistics at you now just to show how 'hall of fame-like' these two are.    The combined record between the two, including post-season, is 343-136. A total of 126,169 career combined passing yards. The total earnings between the two in 2013 was 68.3 million dollars. That turns out to be a pretty nice pay check, right? Over their career, combined, 850 touchdown passes have been thrown.  Last, but not least, these two Hall of Fame quarterbacks have combined for a tota...
